Author Charles Wu

Charles Wu, CEO of Convergence Technologies Inc (CTI), is an entrepreneur and investor with domain expertise in the telecommunications, financial services and green technology space. CTI provides telecom, desktop virtualization, financial and IT services solutions to small-to-medium businesses via Digital Voice and Internet Services, the MitoTec Technology Platform, IP Pay Financial Services and Apex9 Hardware Distribution. At the age of 16, Charles became acquainted with the Internet at Infonautics Corporation (NASDAQ: INFO) after realizing that programming in Perl and other Web languages paid better and was more interesting then cleaning toilets at the local health club. At the age of 20, while a second year undergraduate at the University of Chicago, Charles took indoor wireless LAN technology, adapted it for outdoor use and built one of the first ISPs in the country using license-exempt broadband wireless technology. Since then, he has profitably and organically grown CTI into a $20 million business that has been recognized multiple times by INC Magazine as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the United States. Most recently, Charles led a team that submitted over 20 private sector ARRA solicitations in excess of $200 million and won awards for 40% of its applications, including $12 million worth of funding for CTI. Charles is regularly profiled by the news media, including a cover story article in Red Herring Magazine and a nationally broadcast live interview on WGN Channel 9. Charles has won numerous Industry Awards and is a frequent speaker at technology tradeshows and conventions all across the world. Outside of CTI, Charles is involved in Podponics, an urban hydroponic farming venture, CMS Holdings, a business cash advance fund, River’s Edge Partners, a 40 acre riverfront development near Ottawa, IL, and ECW Group, a residential apartment complex in Addison, IL. Charles attended the University of Chicago for three years and lives in Chicago with his wife, 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son.
